FEATURED IN HOUZZ ARTICLE: EN's focus on material selection by Kelly Ennis

Highlighted in this Houzz article and seen in all EN projects, a thoughtful material selection is what creates an identity for our designs. The owner of this lake house desired modern upgrades without losing that cabin-like feel.

Houzz recognized this project for one major design decision - selecting two different counter top materials for the wall and island counter. Could you image this space with the dark granite as the sink counter? What a dim, cold space that would have been! Instead, a hearty reclaimed wood island counter invites family and friends to join around and enjoy their vacation.

Congratulations to EN's artist-in-residence, Tom Judd, for an another creation that encourages us ponder and explore!

Opening Party: Spirit Animal @ 3580 IQL by Kelly Ennis

The converted 1800's historic church that we work in is creative and occasionally lighthearted.

In October, neighboring video production tenant, Spirit Animal, hosted an Opening Party and welcomed other 3580 IQL tenants to join in their celebration.

Naturally, the EN staff rocked the photo booth!

Design Practice: Curated Meals by Kelly Ennis

Ennis Nehez addresses all the senses: sight, taste, small and sound in order to breech into the 'behind closed doors' fabric of Philadelphia's design culture.  Every Curated Meal brings 15 relative strangers together with a core group of 10 for a feast in our converted church space in East Falls. The resulting conversations and relationships will continue to grow and weave into a richer and more elaborate fabric.  This is the lifeline of any creative endeavor.

"Yet unlike design-friendly cities such as New York, Miami and Milan, Philadelphia loathes showiness, reflecting its Quaker heritage. The contrast between the staid exteriors and the vibrant interiors of homes is a metaphor for the city, says Val Nehez of Ennis Nehez - an Architectural and Interior design firm that works both in Philadelphia and New York. "Philadelphia doesn't wear its style on its sleeve. It's behind closed doors. You have to be in the fabric of society—to enter into peoples' lives—to see it."
